San Rafael, CA – Your chance to vote on local measures and candidates for local offices will come on November 3, and a few key dates are coming up for this election.
Candidates will vie for open seats on some school district boards, city and town councils, and special districts, including community services, fire protection, and sanitary districts. Local measures will include school bonds, city/town, and special district measures. Detailed information about measures is found on the Marin County Elections Office website.
Voters should be aware of these important dates:
- October 5: Ballots will be mailed to all permanent vote-by-mail voters. This is also the first day to vote in the Elections Office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Suite 121 at the Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.
- October 13: Contact the Elections Office if you have not received your voter information pamphlet or vote-by-mail ballot.
- October 19: Last day to register to vote in this election.
- October 27: The last day the Elections Office can mail a vote-by-mail ballot. After this day, voters must get a ballot in person at the Civic Center office.
- November 3: Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., including at the Elections Office. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day. They may be dropped off at any polling place in Marin County or at the Elections Office by 8 p.m. Voters must sign their own return envelope or the ballot won’t be counted.
A Uniform District Election is an election held in November of the odd year for local districts that have not consolidated their elections with the November of even-numbered years.
