San Rafael, CA – After a swearing-in ceremony, the Marin County Board of Supervisors conducted its annual reorganization and voted District 2’s Katie Rice as its President after welcoming District 1’s Damon Connolly as a new member Tuesday.
In addition, District 5 Supervisor Judy Arnold took the oath for her third term as a follow-up to her re-election in June 2014. Arnold, who represents most of Novato, was voted Second Vice President during Tuesday’s reorganization.
Rice, who represents the upper and lower Ross Valley areas, downtown San Rafael and part of Larkspur, succeeded District 3’s Kate Sears as Board President after a one-year term and District 4 Supervisor Steve Kinsey was voted First Vice President. Rice served as Vice President in 2014 and is serving as President for the first time since she joined the Board in October 2012. Rice was appointed as replacement for the late Hal Brown, for whom she served as an aide, and was elected to a four-year term in 2013.
Connolly, an attorney from San Rafael, was elected in June 2014 to represent District 1, which includes Terra Linda, Lucas Valley, Marinwood, Santa Venetia, Peacock Gap, Glenwood, Dominican and Sun Valley neighborhoods of San Rafael. A UC Berkeley and Boalt Hall School of Law graduate, Connolly previously served on the San Rafael City Council and was chair of the Board of Directors for the Marin Energy Authority.
