Entries Officially Open for 2014 Marin County Fair

More than 7,000 entrants expected to showcase homegrown talent

San Rafael, CA – The 73rd Marin County Fair is all set to go for Wednesday, July 2, through Sunday, July 6, and entries are officially open for an array of contests to showcase local talent.

Themed the Happiest Fair On Earth, the 2014 edition will be a five-day community celebration of family fun featuring special skills and creativity of contest entrants. Last year’s fair featured more than 800 categories, more than 13,500 exhibits and 7,050 entrants from Marin and the greater Bay Area. The deadline for submitting entry forms for most categories is Thursday, May 15.

The 275-page Exhibitors’ Guide answers the most common questions about participation, but anyone may call the fair office at 415-473-7048 or visit the office in Marin Center’s Exhibit Hall building at 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael, between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. For all of the latest information, go to www.marinfair.org and click on Competitive Exhibits. Entry forms are available there and in the printed Exhibitors’ Guide.

The first Marin County Fair took place in 1925 with the goal to provide a place where Marin residents could share ideas and techniques in arts, gardens, livestock, fruits, vegetables and flower arrangements.  Competitions were developed over the years in a variety of categories to determine which entries were the best in Marin.

With the same pioneering spirit, the Marin County Fair continues to host unique and nationally renowned competitions revealing a variety of industries, including those that extend far beyond traditional fair exhibits in agriculture. Thousands of awards are bestowed annually in categories such as fine arts, culinary, youth and technology.

The Marin County Fair is all about participation and sharing your talents. Creativity is encouraged, imagination is celebrated! For more information about the competitive exhibit programs, email Charlie Barboni, Exhibits Supervisor, at cbarboni@marincounty.org or call 415-473-7048.
