November 13 workshop covers plans for several southern Marin communities

San Rafael, CA – County of Marin and City of Mill Valley staff who are focused on improving nonmotorized transportation would like to tap the knowledge of cyclists and walkers who use pathways and streets to get around in southern Marin County.

Bicycle and pedestrian master plans throughout Marin are being updated, and a public workshop is set for Thursday, November 13, to go over plans in Alto, Marin City, Strawberry and Tam Valley.

The Marin County Department of Public Works (DPW) is partnering with the City of Mill Valley to host the workshop to share information about existing facilities and plans for future routes. It will be a prime opportunity for cyclists and walkers to identify spots where new facilities are needed most.

“This is one in a series of meetings to help us update the countywide master plan,” said Dan Dawson, Principal Transportation Planner for County DPW. “We’d like to hear from anyone who regularly uses nonmotorized power to get around Mill Valley and the surrounding communities.”

After meetings for other areas have taken place, information gathered from the public will be incorporated into a draft master plan to be presented to the Marin County Board of Supervisors in late 2015, Dawson said.

Help improve walking and bicycling in the communities around Mill Valley by attending the workshop from 7-9 p.m. at the Mill Valley Community Center, 180 Camino Alto, Mill Valley. For more information, contact Dawson at ddawson@marincounty.org or 415-473-6287.
