San Rafael, CA – Marin Public Health reminds residents to get a flu shot this holiday season and provides an appropriate gift: a free flu clinic.
Vaccines will be available to anyone 6 months old and older from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Marin Health and Wellness Campus, 3240 Kerner Blvd., San Rafael. The shots will be given while supplies last regardless of the recipient’s insurance status.
Sponsored by the Marin Public Health Preparedness program, the flu clinic will provide emergency services staff with an opportunity to evaluate response concepts, plans and capabilities.
Eligibility specialists about the Affordable Care Act in Marin will be on hand as well. Visitors can learn about enrollment assistance, estimates for monthly health insurance costs and options for uninsured residents.
Language translation will be available in Spanish and Vietnamese.
Flu vaccinations can reduce illnesses, doctor visits and missed work while preventing flu-related hospitalization and deaths. People at high risk for developing serious flu complications are strongly urged to get vaccinated. They include children younger than 5 years, people 65 years of age and older, pregnant women and people with certain long-term medical conditions.
Steps to reduce the spread of flu include covering your cough or sneeze, frequent hand-washing with soap and staying at home if you have a fever and/or cough or sore throat. Visit www.marinflu.org for more information.
