NOTICE OF MAY ELECTION

Deadlines for Filing Arguments and Rebuttals for
Measures to be voted on in Marin County at the
May 4, 2021 Vote By Mail Special Election

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Marin County Registrar of Voters that the following measures will be on the ballot for the May 4, 2021, Vote By Mail Special Election.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS

MEASURE G – SAN RAFAEL CITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT
To protect quality education at San Rafael high schools by maintaining stable local funding the State can’t take away, including: enhancing core academic programs like math, science, technology, music/art; maintaining small class sizes; prepare students for college/careers; and attracting/retaining high quality teachers, shall the San Rafael City High School District measure renewing funding at the current $196 rate and adding $36 per parcel, be adopted, providing $5,400,000 annually for 8 years with senior exemptions, annual adjustments/independent oversight?

MEASURE H – SAN RAFAEL CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
To protect quality education at all San Rafael elementary and middle schools by maintaining stable local funding the State can’t take away, including: enhancing core academic programs like math, science, technology, music and art; maintaining small class sizes; and attracting/retaining high quality teachers, shall the San Rafael City Elementary School District measure renewing funding at the current $287 rate and adding $36 per parcel, be adopted, providing $5,000,000 annually for 8 years with senior exemptions, annual adjustments and independent oversight?

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that arguments for or against the measures, with Argument Submission Form and Argument Signature Form, must be submitted to the Marin County Elections Department, Room 121, Marin Civic Center, San Rafael, California, by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Arguments for or against the above measure must not be more than 300 words.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the governing board, or any member or members of the board, or any bona fide association of citizens, or any individual voter who is eligible to vote on the measure, or any combination of such associations and voters may submit written arguments for or against the measure. Arguments may not be changed or withdrawn after 4:30 p.m. on February 16, 2021. The Registrar of Voters of Marin County will print one argument for and one argument against the measure in the Voter Information Guide, which is mailed to all registered voters in the district.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that when the Registrar of Voters has selected the argument in favor and against the measure, the Registrar will send a copy of the argument in favor to the author of the argument against and a copy of the argument against to the author of the argument in favor. The authors may prepare and submit rebuttal arguments not exceeding 250 words. The rebuttal arguments must be filed with the Registrar of Voters by 4:30 p.m. on February 22, 2021. Rebuttal arguments shall be printed in the same manner as the direct arguments. Each rebuttal argument shall immediately follow the direct argument, which it seeks to rebut.

The Argument Submission Form and Argument Signature Form, available from the Elections Department, must be turned in with all arguments and rebuttals. Measure arguments and rebuttals will be available for public examination in the Elections Department for ten (10) days from each filing date.
