San Rafael, CA – In preparation for the June 5 Statewide Direct Primary Election, the Marin County Elections Department is mailing voter information guides with sample ballots on April 26 and sending vote-by-mail ballots on May 7.
Candidates for several state offices, including governor, state senator and state assembly, will be on the ballot along with candidates for United States Senator and United States Representative. Countywide offices include Superintendent of Schools, Assessor-Recorder-Clerk, District Attorney, and Sheriff-Coroner. Elections are taking place for County Supervisor seats in District 1 and District 5, the Belvedere City Council and the Corte Madera Town Council.
Regional Measure 3, Bay Area Traffic Relief Plan bridge toll increase, will be on ballots countywide. Additionally, voters living in certain areas will vote on local measures including a Ross Valley School District special tax (Measure E); a Town of Corte Madera general tax (Measure F); a City of San Rafael commercial cannabis business tax (Measure G); and a Stinson Beach County Water District changing appropriations limit (Measure H).

Here are the important dates for the June 5 election:
- April 26: Voter information guide/sample ballot booklets mailed
- May 7: Vote-by-mail ballots mailed and voting begins in Elections Department weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- May 21: Last day to mail voter registration form.
- May 22-June 5: If you miss the registration deadline, you may register and vote in the Elections Department.
- May 29: Applications for a vote-by-mail ballot must be received by the Elections Department to fulfill the request by mail. After this date, voters wishing to vote by mail must get a ballot in person at the Elections Department.
- June 5: Election Day
- Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- The Elections Department is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for registering and voting by mail
- Vote-by-mail ballot envelopes must be signed and postmarked on or before this day
- Voters can drop their vote-by-mail ballot (in its signed envelope) at the Elections Department or any polling place by 8 p.m.
