Audio Recordings of Ballot Measures Available

Listen online or on CD about local, state measures on June 7 ballot

San Rafael, CA – Would you rather listen than read as you make decisions about the June election? The Marin County Elections Department offers audio recordings of the local ballot measures and the state’s voter information guide free of charge.

This is the first time Marin County is offering online recordings of the local measures. “We are really excited about this new feature because it will make access possible to everyone at their convenience,” said Lynda Roberts, Marin County’s Registrar of Voters.

The recordings of the local measures are on the department’s website, www.marinvotes.org, under the Voter Accessibility menu selection. For the audio clips of the state voter guide, choose the audio/large print tab on the Secretary of State’s webpage, voterguide.sos.ca.gov. Roberts’ staff sends CD copies of the recordings to more than 30 Marin locations, including public libraries, senior care facilities, and organizations that assist people with disabilities.

“Reading printed information may be difficult for some voters, so we are happy to provide CDs for those who prefer to listen,” Roberts said. “We want all voters to have access to resources they need so they can make an informed decision when voting.”

As a reminder:

  • Measure AA, San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority, will be on the ballot countywide.
  • Measure B, Marin Community College District, will be on the ballot of voters who live in the district.
  • Measure C will be on the ballot of voters who live in Belvedere.
  • Measure D will be on the ballot of voters who live in San Rafael.

Voters can call the Elections Department at 415-473-6448 to request the 2-CD set by mail, or stop by the Elections Department in Suite 121 of the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. Weekday office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
