Deadlines for Filing Arguments and Rebuttals Nicasio School District

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Marin County Registrar of Voters that the following school district measure will be on the ballot for the May 5, 2015, Special Election:

SCHOOL DISTRICT

NICASIO SCHOOL DISTRICT MEASURE A
To maintain small class sizes, provide competitive salaries, offer instructional programs that support diverse learners, and fund school operations essential to these goals, should Nicasio School District renew and extend its expiring parcel tax for ten years commencing July 1, 2015, increase the rate by $99 to a total of $573.46, and apply a 3% annual increase for each subsequent year, with an exemption for resident property owners age 65 and older?

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that arguments for or against the measure, with Argument Submission Form and Argument Signature Form, must be submitted to the Marin County Elections Office, Room 121, Marin Civic Center, San Rafael, California, by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Arguments for or against the above measure must not be more than 300 words.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the governing board, or any member or members of the board, or any bona fide association of citizens, or any individual voter who is eligible to vote on the measure, or any combination of such associations and voters may submit written arguments for or against the measure. Arguments may not be changed or withdrawn after 4:30 p.m. on February 17, 2015. The Registrar of Voters of Marin County will print one argument for and one argument against the measure in the Voter Information Pamphlet, which is mailed to all registered voters in the district.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that when the Registrar of Voters has selected the argument in favor and against the measure, the Registrar will send a copy of the argument in favor to the author of the argument against and a copy of the argument against to the author of the argument in favor. The authors may prepare and submit rebuttal arguments not exceeding 250 words. The rebuttal arguments must be filed with the Registrar of Voters by 4:30 p.m. on by Monday, February 23, 2015. Rebuttal arguments shall be printed in the same manner as the direct arguments. Each rebuttal argument shall immediately follow the direct argument, which it seeks to rebut.

The Argument Submission Form and Argument Signature Form, available from the Elections Office, must be turned in with all arguments and rebuttals. Measure Arguments and Rebuttals will be available for public examination in the Elections Office for ten (10) days from each filing date.
