Manual Tally Scheduled for Nicasio Election

On May 11, Elections Office to conduct tally of parcel tax vote

San Rafael, CA - May 5 is Election Day in Nicasio, and the public will get a chance to participate in a required manual tally of the vote one week later in the Marin County Elections Office.

Pursuant to California Elections Code §15360, the Election Officer – in this case, Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts – will conduct a public manual tally of a random 1 percent from the precincts. The tally is to take place at 2:30 p.m. May 11 in the Elections Office, Room 121, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.

In the special election, Nicasio voters will consider Measure A, a renewal and extension of a parcel tax to maintain small class sizes in the Nicasio School District, provide competitive salaries, offer instructional programs that support diverse learners, and fund other school operations. Residents within the school district would be taxed $573.46, up $99 from the previous parcel tax, starting July 1, and apply a 3 percent annual increase for each subsequent year. Property owners age 65 and older would be exempt from the tax.

The election is solely vote-by-mail. No polling places will be open.
