Herbicides can be used to control brush and weeds. In most cases, the amount needed
for effective control is very small; more is not better. Always follow the label directions.
Herbicides can be applied using a backpack or hand-held sprayer. Dead plants are fuel, so
they should be removed after the herbicide has taken effect (excerpted from the Oregon State University publication Keep Your Home Safe from Wildfire).
