Project Description

The Inverness Public Utility District is requesting Coastal Permit approval for the replacement of three existing redwood water storage tanks with one 52,700-gallon bolted steel water storage tank and one 43,700-gallon bolted steel water storage tank, as well as the replacement of an existing utility shed with a new 48 square-foot utility shed on the 3,600 square-foot lot in Inverness. The proposed 52,700-gallon tank is approximately 26.75 feet in diameter and would reach a maximum height of approximately 15 feet above grade. The proposed 43,700-gallon tank is approximately 21.54 feet in diameter and would reach a maximum height of approximately 18 feet, 6 inches. The proposed water tanks would modernize the water treatment and storage capacity, but would not increase the number of properties served by Inverness Public Utility District facilities. The project proposal also includes shale surfacing around the perimeter of the tanks.

Coastal Permit approval is required pursuant to interim Marin County Code Section 22.56.040I because the project entails improvements to a property located in a Coastal zoning district not otherwise exempt from Coastal Permit requirements.
