Project Description

The applicant requests Design Review approval to construct a new driveway retaining wall to retain a hillside along the eastern side of an existing driveway located on a developed property in the unincorporated community of Kentfield. The retaining wall would vary in height from a minimum of 1 foot, 6 inches, to a maximum height of 7 feet, 4 inches above the surrounding grade and the exterior walls would maintain the following setbacks: more than 100 feet from the southern front property line; more than 100 feet from the western side property line; eight feet from the eastern side property line; and zero feet from the northern rear property line. Various site improvements would also be entailed in the proposed development, including a wall along the western side of the existing driveway, and repairs to the existing asphalt driveway.

Design Review approval is required pursuant to Section 22.42.020.A of the Marin County Development Code because the project entails a retaining wall that exceeds the retaining wall standards provided in Section 22.20.052 of the Code.
