The applicant requests Pre-Application review for a lithium-ion battery energy storage facility with a capacity of storing and delivering approximately 300 megawatts of electric energy and associated ancillary services into the California electric grid on a vacant lot in Novato. The project would encompass approximately 20-acres of a larger 116.14-acre lot. The project includes lithium-ion battery modules installed in racks housed in outdoor Batter Energy Storage Systems enclosures, associated equipment, and a substation. The project would also include an approximately one-quarter-mile generation 115kv overhead tie-lie connecting the project to the adjacent existing PG&E Ignacio substation.
The project would be monitored and operated remotely from an off-site control center with no permanent on-site operations or personnel. Up to four maintenance staff would visit the site bi-weekly and as needed for project maintenance. The project would utilize an existing 625-foot gravel road for access.
