Project Description

On January 11, 2023, the Community Development Agency received a Coastal Permit application which entails a proposal to amend the Casado Coastal Permit, originally approved by the Deputy Zoning Administrator via Resolution Number 21-107, adopted on April 15, 2021.

The proposed amendments entail the construction of a new underground solider-pier and tieback system to prevent further erosion of a previously developed lot in the community of Bolinas. The proposed scope of work includes the following:

  1. A 64-foot long retaining wall and underground improvements at the eastern portion of the property, previously constructed without permits;
  2. A new nine-foot long retaining wall with a singular tieback along the eastern property boundary intended to protect existing residential structures and infrastructure; and
  3. A new 140-foot retaining wall and underground improvements is proposed at the western portion of the property.

All proposed improvements would occur on private property, with no construction activities occurring at the beach level.

The previous Casado Coastal Permit (Resolution Number 21-107) authorized the construction of a new soldier-pier and tieback system to prevent further erosion of a lot located in the community of Bolinas. The approved scope of work included a 73-foot retaining wall and underground improvements at the eastern portion of the property. The maximum exposed height of the eastern retaining wall was approved at 7 feet above grade. A 137-foot retaining wall and underground improvements were additionally approved at the western portion of the property. The maximum exposed height of the western retaining wall was approved at 6 feet, 6 inches above grade. All proposed improvements were approved to occur on private property, with no construction activities occurring at the beach level.
