Main Component of the Project
Residential Addition/Accessory Structure
Dock on Harbor Cove Way
Mill Valley, CA 94941
Parcel Number: 043-142-20
The applicant requests Site Plan Review approval to remove and replace an existing floating dock and two structural support beams located on an existing pier that extends out into the Strawberry Channel. The pier is located at the terminus of a path between 32 and 40 Harbor Cove Way. The public access floating dock has been in service for over 30 years, and per the project applicant, is nearing the end of its lifespan. As shown on the project plans, prepared by Clausen Structural Engineers, the wood framed floating dock would be demolished and replaced with a new floating dock, consisting of aluminum framing, hardwood decking, and plating encapsulated flotation units.
In addition to the replacement of the floating dock, the proposed project entails the demolition and replacement of two structural beams. The beams connect the floating dock to the existing shoreline anchorages. No new work is proposed on the pier.
Site Plan Review approval is required in accordance with Marin County Development Code Section because the project entails the replacement of a floating dock and two wood beams that are located seaward of the mean higher high tide.
