NOTICE OF FAIR HOUSING ACCOMMODATION PROCEDURES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Please note that this is not a comprehensive explanation of your rights under Federal and State Fair Housing laws.

You may request a reasonable accommodation to rules, practices and procedures for the siting, development and use of housing, including housing related services or facilities, if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • You have a disability* or the housing is for people with disabilities,
  • You may need a reasonable accommodation to existing rules and regulations to have equal opportunity to housing, and
  • Your request for accommodation would not be an undue financial or administrative burden on the County.

*Under the law, a disability is a physical or mental impairment that limits one or more major life activities; a record of having such an impairment; or being regarding as having such an impairment. Fair housing laws do not protect individuals currently using illegal substances, unless they have a separate disability.

If you believe that you satisfy the above criteria and are entitled to a reasonable accommodation under federal and state fair housing laws, you may obtain a Fair Housing Accommodation Request form from the Community Development Agency by calling (415) 473-6269, going online, or visiting the department front desk at 3501 Civic Center Drive, Suite 308, San Rafael, CA 94903. Please note that the Marin County Community Development Agency is open Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and is closed on Friday. If you need assistance in applying for a reasonable accommodation, the County will assist you.

Accessibility: If you are an individual with a disability and require an accommodation to participate in a County program, service or activity, please call (415) 473-4381 (voice), (415) 473-3232 (TTY), dial 711 for CRS or email disability access at least four business days in advance of when you require the accommodation. Documents in alternative formats are available upon request.
