Board Stipends Program

Board of Supervisors

Beginning October 1, 2022, a stipend will be available for members of boards and commissions who self-certify to household income below the County self-sufficiency standard. The Stipend amount is $50 per meeting for appointed board or commission members under the purview of the Board of Supervisors

Household Size Annual Income
1 Adult $ 67,334
2 Adults $ 82,540
1 Adult, 1 Child $114,710
2 Adults, 1 Child $121,108
1 Adult, 2 Children $144,657
2 Adults, 2 Children $149,089
Each Additional Child Add $23,276

“Self-sufficiency” is calculated using the University of Washington Self Sufficiency Calculator (pictured here). Members who self-certify to a household income lower than indicated by the table, will be enrolled for stipend payments. Commissioners will self-certify annually for the duration of their appointment using a brief application form.

The purpose of the stipend program is to enhance board and commission diversity, promote recruitment and retention of members, and mitigate barriers to service for lower-income, BIPOC, rural and single-parent-household community members.
