Paid Supplemental Leave During COVID-19

Board of Supervisors

Meeting Date: 6/8/2021

Agenda Item #8: The Board will hear a request to adopt an urgency ordinance to establish paid COVID-19 supplemental leave requirements for unincorporated county businesses with 25 or fewer employees. Quarantining after coming in contact with somebody who has tested positive for the virus can last 10 days or more according to public health guidelines, and residents can potentially lose income during that span. This ordinance would help prevent workers from making a difficult decision to work instead of quarantining, which puts the public at risk. Due to federal tax credits for COVID-related leave, covered businesses could be reimbursed through September 30, 2021.

The Board adopted the urgency ordinance.
