Agenda Item #3: Shortly after convening at 9 a.m., the Board will hear a presentation from Marin County Parks on the proposed draft Parks, Open Space, and Farmland Transactions and Use Tax Re-Implementation Expenditure Plan. In July 2021, the Board directed Parks to work toward renewing the quarter-cent countywide sales tax known as Measure A. The measure generates an average of $14 million per year and has resulted in a total of $91.2 million in funds (as of fiscal year 2019-20) for parks, open spaces, and farmland preservation across Marin. Measure A, which sunsets after nine years, is due to expire March 31, 2022. Staff recommends that the Board direct staff to bring a proposed ordinance and expenditure plan to the Parks and Open Space Commission on January 20, 2022, and to the Board of Supervisors in early 2022, to place the measure on the June 7, 2022, ballot.

Review

The Board received the presentation and directed staff to bring a proposed ordinance and expenditure plan to the Parks and Open Space Commission on January 20, 2022, and to the Board of Supervisors in early 2022, to place the measure on the June 7 ballot.
