Agenda Item #1: Shortly after convening at 9 a.m., the Board will hear a report from the County Administrator and possibly other County staff about the local COVID-19 response. The County proclaimed a local emergency and a public health emergency in early March 2020, and since then staff has worked in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to coordinate public response efforts. Marin County is currently experiencing a surge in cases driven by Delta variant, which is much more infectious than earlier mutations of COVID-19. Most cases in the past 30 days have been among unvaccinated residents, though a small number of breakthrough cases have occurred. Nearly 94% of all eligible Marin County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, thanks in part to the work of Marin County Public Health and community partners.
