Backup Power for County Facilities

Board of Supervisors

Meeting Date: 1/14/2020

The Board will hear a request from the Department of Public Works (DPW) to approve actions related to Phase 1 of the Marin Emergency Backup Power Project at key County facilities. The County needs a full assessment of its power needs so it can continue to provide essential functions to residents and help maintain public safety during a disaster. DPW asks that the Board review the emergency action undertaken by the Public Works Director, affirm the need to continue its emergency proclamation, authorize a $650,000-or-less agreement with Kitchell, Inc., to evaluate key County facilities for development of emergency backup power systems, and approve related budget actions. The assessment work would mark the beginning of an infrastructure foundation as part of a future, wide-reaching emergency response plan for Marin.

The Board approved the actions related to the Marin Emergency Backup Power Project.
