Meeting Date: 7/23/2019
Preview
At no earlier than 10:30a.m., the Board will conduct a public hearing to consider a Mill Valley Refuse Service-requested rate increase of 3.64 percent for the unincorporated Southern Marin franchise service areas. Factors contributing to the rate adjustment request include: (a) rising labor costs; (b) required replacement of two garbage trucks to meet California state emission standards; and (c) the addition of a new compost route to meet commercial food waste collection regulations prescribed in California Assembly Bill 1826 and Senate Bill 1383. In addition, Mill Valley Refuse Service will transition customers from commingled recycling to dual-stream recycling, a transition that was previously approved. The areas affected by the proposed rate increase include unincorporated neighborhoods near Mill Valley and Tiburon known as Shoreline and Gibson, Paradise Cay, Paradise, and Mar East. There are approximately 800 residential and commercial customers in the franchise area.
