Petition on San Geronimo Golf Course Property

Board of Supervisors

Meeting Date: 1/29/2019

Preview

No earlier than 1:30 p.m., the Board will hear a request to consider a San Geronimo Golf Course Initiative Petition. In 2018, the County sought to purchase the 157-acre golf course and preserve it as open space. The acquisition bid was blocked by a court order. The property’s nonprofit owner closed the course in December 2018. The petition would require approval from a majority of countywide voters to change the use of the property to anything other than golf. Staff recommends that the Board request from the Registrar of Voters to accept the Certificate of Petition Verification and request County Counsel to refer the proposed ordinance to the Community Development Agency, in consultation with applicable County departments, for a report on the proposed initiative measure to be delivered to the Board by February 26.
