The Board will hear a request to adopt a resolution related to the State of California's new vehicle purchasing policies to maximize reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In a response to federal rollbacks of previous emissions standards and challenge of the State of California's authority to set tougher pollution standards, California has put into place two new fleet purchasing policies. First is an elimination of the purchase of sedans solely with internal-combustion engines, except for some public safety vehicles. Second is purchasing only from manufacturers that recognize the California Air Resource Board's authority to set greenhouse gas and zero-emission vehicle standards and that have committed to continuing stringent emission reduction goals for their fleets.
The Board adopted the resolution.
