The Board will hear a request from County Parks to authorize the Board President to execute an agreement with the Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) for the purchase of an agricultural conservation easement over McIsaac Ranch. The 527-acre ranch, on the north bank of Nicasio Reservoir, has been leased by the McIsaac family from an absentee landowner for more than 137 years. It was recently put up for sale and marketed as a potential multi-estate development. The agreement would protect the ranch from development and be a 50-50 split in fair-market costs between MALT and the County. Authorization of the agreement would result in an increase of $1,731,850 in Measure A Farmland Preservation Program Funds for the purchase.
The Board authorized the agreement.
