The Board will hear a request from the Department of Public Works to receive a presentation from the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) regarding the Measure A Transportation Sales Tax and the Proposed Draft Transportation Sales Tax Renewal Expenditure Plan. In November 2004, Marin voters approved a 20-year transportation sales tax known as Measure A and started collecting a half-cent sales tax in April 2005. It raises about $25 million per year and funds a variety of transportation-related projects. Despite the 2025 "sunset" date on the tax, TAM is considering a renewal of the half-cent sales tax measure on the November 2018 ballot and is getting feedback from towns, cities and the County. The expenditure plan is almost 15 years old and TAM is considering early renewal to respond to current needs and adjust how the funds can be spent. Renewal of Measure A would create an ongoing and reliable stream of revenue for much-needed projects and programs.
The Board received the presentation.
