Mandatory Mediation for Certain Rent Increases

No earlier than 5:30 p.m., the Board will conduct a hearing for an ordinance establishing a Rental Housing Dispute Resolution Program, known as mandatory mediation, for rent increases above five percent for dwellings in unincorporated areas. On December 5, the Board heard a presentation and conducted a hearing to consider the recommendation from the Board's Housing Subcommittee. The Board elected to conduct a first reading for the Rental Housing Dispute Resolution ordinance and directed staff to return with a provision for data collection and Residential and Tenant Landlord Relations ordinance with staff has identified a suitable date and done outreach with stakeholders.
