Fair Housing Ordinance

Not before 5:30 p.m., the Board will conduct the first reading of a Fair Housing Ordinance to establish source of income protections and increase affordable housing options. An ordinance to prohibit rental housing discrimination based on a tenant's source of income, including income from federal Housing Choice ("Section 8") vouchers and other third-party rental subsidies, was identified by the Board in February 2016 as a priority. The proposed ordinance is intended to eliminate limitations in the provision of rental housing for families and veterans who receive third-party rental assistance. Staff recommends that the Board schedule a merit hearing for 1:30 p.m. November 8.
