The Board will hear an update from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, regarding implementation of service expansion. In February 2016, the Board accepted HHS' recommendation to expand evidence-based behavioral health services as alternatives to implementing Assembly Bill 1421, sometimes known as Laura's Law. HHS said AB 1421 showed insufficient evidence of added value in Marin County. HHS returned to the Board in June 2016 to describe steps taken to expand capacity in several areas to better serve the community.
The Board heard the report, listened to public comments and shared comments with HHS personnel.
