The Board will conduct a mere hearing of an ordinance amending Section 15.36.010 of the Marin County Code to restrict parking on a portion of Muir Woods Road (also called Frank’s Valley Road) near Muir Woods National Monument. The ordinance would establish a preferential parking program under which the National Park Service (NPS) may issue and charge fees for parking permits. The Board approved a memorandum of understanding with NPS on the issue in June 2015 and a parking fine zone was established in October 2015. Per the memorandum, the number of parking spaces downstream of Redwood Creek Bridge will be incrementally reduced over the next five years from 80 spaces to zero.
The Board conducted the first reading of the ordinance and scheduled the merit hearing for 10:30 a.m. June 21.
