Residents of West Marin have developed a network to help people in remote areas be self-sufficient while emergency responders handle critical situations. The Board would like to recognize the hard work and commitment it takes to be prepared.

The Board will hear a request to adopt a resolution proclaiming the week of April 10-16, 2016, as National Volunteer Recognition Week and the month of April as Marin County Volunteer Recognition Month, and to recognize the Civic Center Volunteers 2015-2016 Volunteer of the Year, Stephen A. The Board will conduct the first reading of an ordinance amending Chapter 12.06 of the Marin County Code pertaining to skydiving standards at Gnoss Field airport in Novato. The need for an ordinance amendment is tied to a commercial skydiving business license application. On March 8, the County received a safety review from the Federal Aviation Administration that clears the way to move forward on a business license. Staff recommends that the Board schedule a merit hearing for 10:30 a.m. May 3.

The Board will hear the first reading of an ordinance increasing the Marin County Fire Department’s paramedic and ambulance service fees in County Service Area 28, a 351-square-mile area that includes San Geronimo Valley, Point Reyes Station, Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Inverness, Tomales and other West Marin communities. A review of fees showed that they were not in alignment with industry standards and actual costs of providing the service. Staff recommends that the Board schedule a merit hearing for 10:30 a.m. May 3.

At 1:30 p.m., the Board will conduct a hearing to consider a resolution resubmitting to the California Coastal Commission Land Use Plan Amendments (LUPA) and Implementation Program Amendments (IPA) to the certified Marin County Local Coastal Program (LCP), based in part upon the suggested modifications offered on the LUPA by the Coastal Commission and Commission staff.
