At 9 a.m. (subject to change), the Board will hear a presentation from Marin Women’s Commission on human trafficking in Marin County. The report is an overview of what the commission has learned about human traffic activity globally, in California and in Marin. Several local initiatives have been started that help defend against trafficking, including the District Attorney's task force and law enforcement protocol. The commission has focused on sex trafficking with particular interest in potential predatory crimes against adolescent and young adult women. The use of social media is particularly threatening, making sex trafficking crimes even more invisible. The commission urged a wide and deep prevention strategy.
The Board heard the presentation and received the report.
