The Board will hear a request to adopt a resolution commending Reva Saper, a longtime Strawberry resident, for her many years of dedicated service to the Southern Marin communities. Reva serves on the Marin Superior Court Committee and served 18 years on the Marin Disaster Council. She initiated emergency response training programs and served on the Marin County Civil Grand Jury.

The Board will hear a request to recognize the Robert Giacomini Dairy in Point Reyes for its receipt of the Leopold Conservation Award. The dairy, home to the Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co., was given the award by the Sand County Foundation, the California Farm Bureau Federation and Sustainable Conservation. The award honors private landowner achievement in the stewardship and management of natural resources.

The Board will hear a report from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding the Napa-Solano-Yolo-Marin County Public Health Laboratory. In February 2013, the Board approved a joint powers agreement to establish the regional partnership effective July 1, 2013. As requested, HHS is returning to provide a report on how the partnership is going.

The Board will conduct a hearing and consider a resolution appointing Public Works Director Raul Rojas to the position of Marin County Road Commissioner effective March 31, 2014. Rojas, the City of Bakersfield’s Director of Public Works for the past 20 years, was chosen in February as the replacement for the retiring Bob Beaumont. Rojas starts his new job March 24.

The Board will hear a request to authorize the Board President to execute a $75,000 sponsorship agreement with Santa Cruz Bicycles, Inc., to support construction of the Stafford Lake Bike Park at Stafford Lake County Park west of Novato. Approval would bring total funds available to construct the bike park to nearly $367,000, or 75 percent of the Phase I $480,000 construction estimate, and 43 percent of the $850,000 total park fundraising goal.
