The Board will recognize Dan Daniels of the Department of Health and Human Services as its Marin County Employee of the Month for March 2014.
Review
Supervisor Katie Rice read the following:
Dan Daniels, an employment counselor with Marin Employment Connection, is the principal staff person for the Youth Working for Change program, a collaboration of the Probation and Health and Human Services departments. Devoting his entire career to the underserved, he is an expert in creating successful relationships between Marin employers and youths seeking better opportunities through employment. Dan is committed and quick to earn the trust of both employers and the young people he serves. Youths in the juvenile justice system often face many barriers to success, but Dan assesses, prepares and encourages them.
Dan is engaging, upbeat and charismatic. He is often heard greeting first-time clients with a booming “Are you ready to get a job today?” With Dan’s encouragement, youths have gained confidence and life-changing skills, and the program has exceeded goals since its initiation in 2012.
He is known for saying “There are three ways to get a job – through people you know, people you know and people you know.” The County of Marin is fortunate to “know” Dan Daniels. Congratulations, Dan!
