San Rafael, CA – Vehicles and many different types of equipment will be available for public purchase starting July 30 when the Marin County Department of Public Works starts an online auction.

This Chevy Tahoe is among the items for sale online starting July 30.This Chevy Tahoe is among the items for sale online starting July 30.
Multiple SUVs, a sedan, work trucks and specialty vehicles are among the surplus items being offered at below bluebook value. All items will be available through www.publicsurplus.com, a secure auction website specializing in selling government property to the public.

As the County remains committed to environmental awareness and fiscally responsible spending, the County fleet continues to be reduced. Vehicles with high fuel consumption or excessive particulate emissions are being sold and, if possible, replaced by hybrids, flex fuel option vehicles or more efficient diesel engines. The County fleet now has about 75 hybrid and/or electric vehicles.

The auction begins Saturday, July 30, at midnight Pacific time and closes Sunday, August 6, at 2 p.m. Details about the auction items are not available or visible on the website until the auction begins. Vehicles and their corresponding service records will be available for inspection Tuesday, August 2, through Thursday, August 4, from noon to 3 p.m. at the County Garage, 6 Peter Behr Dr., San Rafael.

All items are sold “as is” and all sales are final; it is the bidder’s responsibility to check the vehicle’s condition prior to purchase. Payment must be received within five business days of the auction close and vehicles must be picked up weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. within five business days of the receipt of payment.
