San Rafael, CA – Marin County Recorder Richard N. Benson announced that the Marin County Recorder’s Office began accepting electronic recordings of public documents using the Statewide Electronic Courier Universal Recording Environment (SECURE), a multi-county system for electronic recording.
Electronic recording will enhance customer service and reduce recording turnaround time. Real property documents will be delivered, recorded, and returned to submitters all electronically. The introduction of electronic recording has the potential to process a large majority of documents to be recorded.
The new technology will enable authorized submitters such as certified title insurers, institutional lenders, underwritten title companies and local, state and federal government agencies to submit documents, such as deeds, loan documents, and notices, all electronically.
To ensure property security, documents presented for electronic recording must be from submitters pursuant to the regulations developed by the California Department of Justice. Documents must meet statutory recording requirements, satisfy rigorous security standards, and pay all applicable fees and taxes.
