Special Election Coming for Nicasio School District

Renewal of parcel tax to be considered in vote-by-mail election

San Rafael, CA – Nicasio School District has called a special election for May 5, and the Marin County Elections Office said the election will be solely by mail with no polling place.

The ballot box inside the Elections Office.Voters in the school district will be voting yes or no on Measure A to determine if the expiring parcel tax should be renewed and extended.  Voters will receive a postage-paid envelope along with their ballot, and must remember to sign the envelope before mailing it back. Also, the ballot envelope must be postmarked on or before Election Day in order to count.

Voters in the district should be aware of key dates in this election: 

  • March 26: Voter information pamphlets were mailed to all registered voters.
  • April 6: Vote-by-mail ballots will be mailed to all registered voters. This is also the first day voters in the district can vote in the Elections Office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Suite 121 at the Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.
  • April 14: Contact the Elections Office if you have not received your voter information pamphlet or vote-by-mail ballot.
  • April 20: Last day to register to vote in this election.
  • April 28: The last day the Elections Office can mail a vote-by-mail ballot. After this day, voters wishing to vote must get a ballot in person at the Elections Office.
  • May 5: There is no polling place for this election. Ballot return envelopes must be signed and postmarked on or before this day, or dropped at the Elections Office by 8 p.m. Registered voters in the district may vote at the Elections Office from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day.
