Registrar: Poll Workers’ Commitment Strong

Willingness makes a difference; Voter turnout next year will be ‘significant’

San Rafael, CA – Marin County Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts has thanked more than 500 citizens who served as poll workers and Marin County Elections Department support staff for the November 3 Uniform District Election.

A group of poll workers face away from the camera as they listen to a trainer facing the camera at the back of a room.Election Day poll workers go through a training session.
“Typically the odd-year district election is not as busy as an even-year election,” Roberts said. “But the willingness of people to serve as poll workers is our primary support on Election Day.”

Marin County is fortunate to have a large pool of community members dedicated to serving at every election. Poll worker services manager Colleen Ksanda regularly tells her crew, “As you know, we can’t run an election without you, and we appreciate each one of you for your dedication, commitment, and hard work to make it happen.”

After all ballots were processed, the turnout ended up at nearly 35 percent. The Elections team is starting to prepare for a heavy 2016 presidential election cycle.

“We know our turnout next year will be significant,” Roberts said.  “More than ever, we will need our dedicated team of poll workers to step up once again.”

The official final results of the November 3 election are posted at www.marinvotes.org.
