Lagoon Park is a large community park (10 acres) located on the Marin County Civic Center campus and surrounds a man-made lagoon. It provides expansive views of the landmark Civic Center buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The park is a popular San Rafael destination for walking, picnicking, model boating, wildlife viewing, and relaxing. The playground adjacent to the lagoon was renovated in September 2008 and its innovative and exciting play features make it a favorite spot for kids and adults alike – there is a climbing structure, areas for older children and for tots, and a sand and water play area. The playground and nearby picnic tables are accessible. For one week each summer, the park and surrounding expansive turf is the setting for the carnival rides that are part of the Marin County Fair. Visit park reservations to find out how to reserve a large group area at Lagoon Park. Dogs are allowed on leash.
From Hwy 101 in San Rafael, take the N San Pedro Rd exit east and turn left at Civic Center Dr. The park and large parking lot is on the right.
