In June 2022, Mary Sackett was elected for her first term on the Marin County Board of Supervisors to represent District 1. Mary moved to Marin County in 2002 with her husband, Shawn. Like so many residents, they were captivated by the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean, Mt. Tam, and the San Francisco Bay. They chose to make Marin home, a place where they can raise their family and be a part of a community with a passion for environmental stewardship. As an environmentalist, Mary recognizes the importance of protecting the natural beauty and sensitive habitats of Marin.

Mary’s early career was focused on the intersection of law and health policy, representing healthcare professionals and building trusting relationships in the community. As an active volunteer, Mary organizes and joins community members in a broad range of volunteer opportunities throughout the County. You may even have seen her helping out on a coastal clean-up or earth day event. In May 2013 Mary was honored to be recognized as the Volunteer of the Week by the Marin IJ. She has served on the Vallecito Elementary Site Council, as a Safe Routes to School volunteer, an active Member of the San Rafael Harbor Rotary Club, and most recently on the Marin County Bar Association Board of Directors. Mary received the Big Sister of the Year award from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the North Bay. In 2017, Mary took her civic engagement to the next level when she began working as a top aide to former Marin County Supervisor, Damon Connolly. Mary has played a critical role in improving our transit system, enhancing bike/ped infrastructure, addressing environmental protection policies, housing, and equity. During her time at the Civic Center, Mary has helped guide future leaders by hosting Marin School of Environmental Leadership (MSEL) students in the office. As your representative on the Marin County Board of Supervisors, Mary is committed to listening to neighbors, investing in our future, and taking meaningful steps to fight climate change, address housing, homelessness, transportation, disaster preparedness, and equity.
