Named after a wide spot in Lagunitas Creek, this 22 acre natural area is located on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, one mile west of Point Reyes Station. The area primarily serves neighboring residents in Point Reyes Station and Inverness. It is a popular site for bird watching, nature study, wildlife viewing (including Coho Salmon), and kayaking. It offers level walking paths, viewing areas, picnic tables, benches, paved parking, and access to Lagunitas Creek. White House Pool provides significant wildlife habitat for a variety of species and has benefited from the recently completed Giacomini Wetland Restoration Project sponsored by the National Park Service. Dogs are allowed on leash.
Directions:
From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd (SFBD) exit west to Olema, turn right at Hwy 1/SFBD, and follow SFBD left when Hwy 1/SFBD forks. The White House Pool parking lot is on the right and provides space for up to 30 vehicles.
