This year marks the 200th anniversary of the modern agricultural fair in America. The Marin County Fair will celebrate the rich and varied traditions that have become the foundations for fairs all across the United States. Originally begun in the early 1800s as a way for farmers to find out about new farming methods and equipment, agricultural fairs evolved into annual family get-togethers where communities could enjoy competitions, exhibits, and entertainment.

We will bring the agricultural legacy theme alive with memorabilia displays, traditional and innovative exhibits, cheese tastings, antique farm tractors, and meeting Marin County farmers and ranchers.

The Marin County Fair is experiencing record participation in traditional fair exhibits, from pie-baking to backyard poultry, from textile arts to fine arts. We’re excited to bring fair traditions forward by spotlighting the “heart and soul” of our great county fair. We want to be part and parcel of America’s heritage, history, and diversity.

The fair takes place Saturday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 4. As always, it promises kid-centric entertainment, innovative and exciting exhibits, thrilling rides, delightful farm animals, and spectacular fireworks every night.
